Event: Head out to Bigs Sports Bar on 12th Street to enjoy a live show with independent hip-hop musician Sage Francis. The show begins at 9 p.m., and Phantom Balance also will perform. Tickets are $12.
Saturday, Oct. 26
Food: Have you checked out the new Beef O’Brady’s yet? Share steak nachos, cheesy bacon pub chips or pickle chips with friends, or indulge in the OMG Burger, St. Louis ribs or award-winning wings while watching college football. Don’t miss their beignets or molten chocolate cake for dessert! Beefs is located at 4021 N. Bobhalla Drive and is connected to the Sanford Pentagon.
Event: Today is the day to volunteer! Participate in Make a Difference Day, and choose from many volunteer projects at the Washington Pavilion from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. While at the Pavilion, take the kids to Spooky Science: Time Machine 2013 inside the Kirby Science Discovery Center. From 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., enjoy demonstrations, exhibits and the bubble house. Also enjoy a “deliciously haunting” lunch inside Leonardo’s Cafe.
Sunday, Oct. 27
Food: Overtime Sports Bar on 26th Street is hosting a Monster Nacho Challenge tonight. Beginning at 7 pm., four two-person teams will compete to win a $200 party tab and $200 in cash. Vikings or Packers fans can enter to participate the day of the competition. May the best cheese head win!
Event: Weather should warm up today for the Great Plains Zoo’s final installment of Zoo Boo, held 3:30-7 p.m. Cost is $5 for zoo members and $6 for nonmembers and will include trick-or-treating and animal encounters.
