Event: It’s a bittersweet farewell. The Starlite Drive-In in Mitchell will celebrate its final days this weekend, featuring “Despicable Me 2” at dusk (around 8 p.m.). But don’t think this is a sad goodbye- the energy at the drive-in will be filled with fun! As part of its finale, Starlite will host the Longfellow School Carnival, featuring bounce houses and mini golf and a super full snack bar. Food includes discounted hotdogs and footlongs, homemade pizzas and caramel apples. Cost is $15 per carload, and all proceeds will benefit the Longfellow Parent-Teacher Organization.
Saturday, Sept. 21
Food: Sunday is the first day of fall! Let’s celebrate. Tinner’s Bar and Grill is offering an Oktoberfest meal through the month of September, featuring German sausage served with sauerkraut and hot German potato salad for $9. Add a pint of Becks beer to your meal for $2 more.
Event: Celebrate the beginning of the fall season by participating in the Apple Festival this weekend! Country Apple Orchard, located south of Sioux Falls on Minnesota Avenue, will welcome families from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Once you’ve hopped on the wagon and filled a basket with your best apples, other activities at the orchard include animal visits, pony rides, train rides, inflatables, pork loin, coffee and pie in the bakery, kettle korn and other refreshments and live music by Phil Baker. The children’s musician will perform at noon and 2 p.m. today and 1 and 3 p.m. Sunday. The festival is free.

Food: Game day! NFL Sunday features at Oggie’s Bar and Grill in Tea include nachos, pretzel sticks, pulled pork sliders, chips and single-topping pizzas for half price and five wings for $3. Drink specials include $1 off domestic and retro taps and $2 16-ounce Tall Boys.
Event: Every couple needs a good laugh from time to time. Enjoy a comedic stage performance of “Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus Live” tonight at the Orpheum Theater. The one-man show is put on by stand-up comedian Peter Story, and the show begins at 7 p.m.

In need of new art? Stop by the 26th annual Northern Plains Indian Art Market this afternoon at the Ramkota Exhibit Hall. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., shop original artwork presented by Sinte Gleska University. Admission is $5.
