Tonight on the Town: Weekend Edition

Friday, Feb. 8
Food: The Attic Bar and Grill on 41st and Sycamore is offering dinner specials on salmon tonight. Jalapeno corn chowder soup also will be served.

Event: Shopping for a new car? Bring your family out to the Sioux Falls Convention Center, 1101 N. West Ave., this weekend to check out a unique assortment of cars, trucks and motorcycles brought in from all across the United States. The family-friendly event will be held 5-10 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday and includes shopping and children’s activities. From 1-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Saturday, meet Frank Fritz, star of History Channel’s “American Pickers.”Author Darrin Jon Johnson also will be signing his book “Hamster Day” on Friday. Admission is $9 for adults and $15 for a weekend pass, and all profits for the annual event will benefit Cure Kids Cancer. Saturday, Feb. 9
Food: Participate in our Falls Wine Review with a glass at Carnaval Brazilian Grille tonight. While listening to live music by Sound Poet, snap a photo of enjoying wine with friends or family and post it to Instagram to win prizes.

Event: Before the winter storm, enjoy a day of snowshoeing at The Outdoor Campus. From 10:30 a.m. to noon, adults are welcome to snowshoe through the snowy trails. Register at www.outdoorcampus.org.
Rather stay indoors? Shop new merchandise at Lillian’s Boutique on Phillips Avenue. The clothing shop is now open every weekend and is featuring bubble necklaces for $24-$28 through February. Happy shopping!

Sunday, Feb. 10
Food: Wind down your weekend with brunch at Cookie Jar downtown. From 9-11 a.m., the bakery and eatery will serve biscuits and gravy with cheesy hashbrowns for $8 and a breakfast sandwich with cheesy hashbrowns for $7. Coffee and bakery items are also available.

Event: Think it’s too cold to disc golf? The Ice Bowl motto is “no whimps and no whiners,” so you better bundle up. In fact, the colder the better — events with the lowest temperatures or most snow win prizes for the next year. Join the Ice Bowl Disc Golf Tournament on Sunday at the Big Sioux Recreational Area near Brandon. The event begins at 10 a.m. and will raise money and non-perishable food items for the Brandon Food Pantry. Disc golfers of all levels and ages are encouraged to play, and there will be open, advanced, intermediate and recreational divisions to participate in. Cost is $20 and at least two non-perishable food items, and prizes will be awarded in each division. Each player will receive a tournament disc. Call 553-3298 for information.
