‘Voice,’ ‘Idol’ premiering soon

Reality show singing competitions “American Idol” and “The Voice” are making their way back to your living room.

First off, “American Idol” will premiere Wednesday on FOX, but the hype for season 12 hasn’t come without a bit of drama (shocking). After Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler announced their stepping down, Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey and Keith Urban confirmed they will be taking the judge’s seats with Randy Jackson. That seems exciting, and I like to think they’ll all do well together, but surely we can’t be surprised that the claws are out when you put two divas out there, both pining for the spotlight. Aside from the fact that I just really, really love “American Idol,” I’m dying to see how those judges pan out.

As for “The Voice,” NBC’s fourth season will return March 25 and will also feature new judges Shakira and Usher joining Blake Shelton and Adam Levine. Even though I didn’t keep up with “The Voice” as much as I do “Idol,” I read drama was to blame as well for the departure of Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green.

Can’t we all just get along and sing happy tunes?
