Tonight on the Town: Weekend Edition

Friday, Jan. 4
Food: TGIF! Sick of the snow yet? Indulge in a mini-getaway at Bracco and enjoy their fresh Hawaiian fish specials that are new every week. This weekend, the restaurant and tiki bar on 57th and Western will be serving a Hawaiian Marlin prepared with a housemade Cajun cream sauce. Sounds like a pina colada may need to go with that.

Event: Stroll downtown for First Friday tonight. Eastbank Art Gallery at 8th & Railroad will host an art reception from 5-7:30 p.m. for guest artist Paul Dezotell and for a group show titled January Blues. Ipso Gallery on Sixth and Main also will host a reception from 6-8 p.m. for Mel Spinar, and the Washington Pavilion is open for specials from 5-8 p.m.

Saturday, Jan. 5
Food: Kids eat free all day on Saturdays at Marlin’s Family Restaurant. Stop in to enjoy omelets, skillets, hash or pancakes for breakfast or hoagies, melts, smothered sandwiches or steaks for dinner. And don’t miss fried cheesecake and ice cream for dessert!

Event: You’ve taken all the holiday photos your camera can hold, now it’s time to organize and get those in a scrapbook. Join an after-holiday scrapbooking class at Morningside Community Center today. From 1-9 p.m., scrappers and their friends will have space to spread out and work, and Creative Memories consultant Amy Koch will be on hand to give pointers. Bring your pictures, pages or anything else you need to complete your scrapbook. The community center is located at 2400 S. Bahnson Ave., the class is $5 and held on the first Saturday of every month, so if you can’t make it this weekend, plan to attend Feb. 2 or March 2. Call 367-8222.
