Monday’s ‘New Year’s Rockin’ Eve’ highlights

Whether you catch the show every year or haven’t sat down to enjoy it since you were a kid, everyone is familiar with Dick Clark’s annual “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” in Times Square, filmed live on ABC. Will you be watching on Monday night?

Since 2005, Hollywood mogul Ryan Seacrest had been co-hosting with Dick Clark, who died last April. So this year will be Seacrest’s first solo performance.

“It’s definitely a mixed emotion,” says Seacrest, according to AP. “As a kid, I knew New Year’s Eve by watching Dick Clark. As an adult, I now New Year’s Eve recently by working with him. I’ve never done the ABC show without him. It’s emotional, it’s reflective and, at the same time, it’s celebratory because he was such a leader and pioneer and mentor. It will be unique in so many ways and, frankly, I don’t know what to expect in that first second when I sign on.”

We trust you’ll be just fine, slick.

The show will begin at 7 p.m. with a two-hour tribute to Clark, hosted by Jenny McCarthy and Fergie. Then, the countdown begins at 9 p.m. with Seacrest, and performances in New York will include Taylor Swift, Carly Rae Jepsen, Neon Trees and Psy. “Rockin’ Eve” also will air performances taking place in California by Justin Bieber, Jason Aldean, Pitbull, Karmin, Greyson Chance, Ellie Goulding, The Wanted, Brandy, Flo Rida and OneRepublic.

Woah, I’m looking forward to all. these. shows. Except Psy, I’m totally over Gangnam Style. Right?
