Two weeks away! Although we’re quite busy crossing gifts our Christmas list and preparing for family, etc. right now, another fancy little holiday is right around the corner, and if you haven’t made plans already, it’s time to decide what you’ll be doing for New Year’s Eve. Below is a list of some bars/restaurants in town that invite you to celebrate with them. Check back often, as I’ll be adding to this list whenever I can.
Tinner’s Bar & Grill on 69th & Minnesota will serve a New Year’s Eve dinner with a choice of lobster tail and a 6oz. filet, two lobster tails, king crab legs, Torsk filet and a 6oz. sirloin, lamb chops or lobster alfredo. All meals will be served with a glass of house wine or a pint of domestic beer, house salad and potato.
For another New Year’s Eve meal, the VFW on Minnesota Avenue will serve dinner from 5:30-8 p.m., featuring prime rib, shrimp or steak. Reservations are recommended at 338-0869. Afterward, dance to live music by Slight Return. Tickets are $13 for dinner or $15 for dinner and the dance.
Local band Vermillion Ampd will play 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the American Legion, 1701 W. Legion Drive. The NYE celebration includes party favors and free lunch served at midnight, and the event is free.
Regional bands Janitor Bob and Avian Sunrise will play an all-ages New Year’s Eve party at the Sioux Falls Convention Center. The shows begin at 9 p.m., and tickets are $16 in advance and $20 at the door. Avian Sunrise also will perform 4 p.m. Friday for Link Live at Carnaval Brazilian Grill or online at argusleader.com.
Also going on at the Sioux Falls Convention Center, The Sioux Empire Community Theatre will present “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged.” Dinner begins at 6:15 p.m., and the show begins at 7:15. The dinner buffet will include marinated chicken scaloppini with veggies, roasted reds, salad and bread. Desserts also will be served. Tickets are $65-$75 and available at SiouxFallsTheatre.com or by calling 360-4800.
Icon Lounge will host the fifth annual Champagne Ball, featuring a masquerade party, live music with Kory and the Fireflies, appetizers and a champagne toast at midnight. Tickets are $75 per person or $750 for a table of 10, and the event is a benefit for Make-A-Wish South Dakota.
kRav’N on 77th & Louise will host a Balloon Drop on NYE, featuring five vacation packages being given away at midnight. More prizes will be given away throughout the night as well.
The Vault will host a comedy show on NYE. Comedian Steve Hirst of England will perform from 6-9 p.m. Afterward, DJs Catalyst and Royski will play for the rest of the night. On Sunday, Dec. 30, The Vault will host a teenage “I Glow Hard in the Paint” party from 8 p.m. to midnight.
The El Riad Shrine on Phillips Avenue will host its annual New Year’s Eve dance beginning at 7 p.m. The evening will include dancing and appetizers, and The Merle Lake Orchestra will perform from 8:30 p.m. to midnight. Also, breakfast will be served after the ball drops.
Touch of Europe will host live music by Stash on NYE. The rock/blues band will play from 8:30-11:30 p.m.
The Hegg Brothers will play from 8 p.m. to midnight at Paramount Piano Bar, which is connected to Minervas.
From 9 a.m. to midnight, enjoy lift, rental and tubing specials at Great Bear Recreational Park. Stick around to enjoy the fireworks at midnight.
At Grand Falls Casino Resort, the band Something New will perform inside the Show Lounge beginning at 9 p.m. On New Year’s Day, Robert’s Buffet will serve a brunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for $16.99. Ruthie’s Steak and Seafood also will serve a brunch til 1:20 p.m. for $29.
